The Best of Indian Head Massage
CE Hours: 4
Indian Head Massage is based on the ancient Indian healing system of Ayurveda and has been practiced for over a thousand years. This course focuses on scalp and face techniques and includes over 30 of the most useful and beneficial strokes that Indian Head Massage has to offer. The massage is calming yet revitalizing and combines effleurage, stroking, kneading, friction, percussion and pressure point techniques. It supports the nervous system by alleviating stress, encouraging the elimination of toxins and increasing oxygen uptake in tissues. Indian Head Massage encourages deep relaxation and can help eyestrain and headaches. It boosts hair health, improves concentration by enhancing blood flow, calms the mind and eases emotional stress. Participants learn not only the best of traditional seated Indian Head Massage techniques, but also how to adapt the strokes to every day table work. Oil is recommended but optional for the scalp massage. The instructor includes organic Ayurvedic herbal scalp oils from Solavedi. Debbie DeNardo earned her BS degree from Northern Illinois University and received her massage therapy education from East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon. In addition to her home based private practice, Debbie has been teaching NCBTMB CE approved courses for massage therapists and estheticians since 2010. She has over 20 years of massage experience and is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association. In addition to her live hands-on demonstrations, PowerPoint presentations guide students through step-by-step instructions. Debbie's blend of technique, knowledge and sense of fun translates well into a creative, hands-on class environment.
