Acu-Cupping is a modality use in Traditional Chinese Medicine in which a cup is applied to the skin by reducing the pressure inside the cup creating a suction. The technique increases local circulation of blood and lymph, stretch muscle tissue, loosen adhesions and scar tissue for the treatment of Acupressure points, Myofacial restrictions, and Trigger Points.
Students will demonstrate proficiency in the use of Acu-Cupping as a massage modality and Myofacial release technique.
Students will list indications and contraindications of Acu-Cupping.
Students will learn and demonstrate appropriate suction per body part and condition.
Students will learn and demonstrate appropriate movement of cups per body part and condition.
Students will learn and locate Acupressure points and Trigger points for cupping.

The Instructor, DJ Amadio, Asst. Athletic Trainer and Massage Therapist for the Nashville Predators Hockey Team. Amadio graduated from the University of Florida in 2001 with a B.S. in Athletic Training. Schooled in TCM at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Licensed Massage Therapist. His focus is in sports massage, myofascial, muscle energy, craniosacral, active release technique and acu-cupping.
